Inter Milan’s Argentine
Javier Zanetti has grabbed the top spot in the FTBL World Ranking of defenders over 35 years of age.
The former Argentina international (he still holds the record for the number of games played in the Serie A by a foreigner) boosted his overall FTBL rating by 13.7 rating points after the Nerazzurri’s 3:1 win over Napoli last Wednesday to 98.05 points.
Zanetti's main rival, Juventus' Italy international Fabio Cannavaro, retreated to 2nd place in the ranking with a tally of 98.05 points as the Old Lady narrowly avoided defeat at Genoa (2:2).
Zanetti could further improve that rating, given he will face a plank of just a single rating point when Inter take on number 3 in the standings Sampdoria in the next round of the Serie A: even a simple draw will take care of that.
