Real Madrid’s Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was again on target yesterday, netting a brace as the Madrilenes brushed aside French side Olympique Marseille 3:0 in their Champions League group stage game at the Bernabeu. Though he had to leave the pitch at the 70th minute due to injury, he still easily boosted his FTBL rating to 244.67 points, the highest in the world at the moment.
Ronaldo picked up approximately 30 rating points in our system, comfortably beating the 12.90-rating-point bar he faced in the game. But a few hours later, he suffered a drop in his rating.
This happened as the game against AS Roma (2:0), played precisely 18 months ago, was dropped from the list of Ronaldo’s last five games, as the FTBL rating system requires. Ronaldo scored in that game: thus, his FTBL rating lost more than 5 rating points, 10% of the 53.81 rating points he earned back then.
Nonetheless, the Portugal international continues to sit comfortably at the top of the FTBL World Ranking of strikers, an impressive 40 rating points ahead of number-two-ranked David Villa of Valencia (203.77 points).
