Chelsea’s Petr Cech used the flop of rivals Iker Casillas and Víctor Valdés in their Champions League home games to surge to the top of the FTBL world ranking of goalkeepers.
As Barcelona fell to Russia’s Rubin Kazan, Valdés dropped 11 rating points to see his tally shrink to 111.44 points, while Casillas lost 16.14 rating points in Real Madrid’s 2:3 loss to AC Milan to slump to 102.88 points.
Cech kept his slate clean as the Blues trashed struggling Atlético Madrid 4:0 yesterday, boosting his tally to 126.07 points. He is now 15 rating points ahead of Valdés, and number-three-ranked Júlio César of Inter Milan now trials the Czech international by 18 points.
Casillas has exited the World Top 23, our list of the world’s top 23 players.
