Chelsea’s Frank Lampard (pictured) captured the top spot in the FTBL world ranking of midfielders with two goals as the Blues yesterday crushed Blackburn Rovers 5:0 at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
Lampard, in fierce competition with Barcelona superstars, is having the upper hand, for the moment. He earned 19.5 rating points for yesterday’s display to boost his overall FTBL rating to 180.91 points.
Just a few days ago, Lampard overtook rival Xavi (154.25 points), moving ever closer to then leader Lionel Messi (161.01 points), both Barcelona stars. The victory over Rovers has sealed the deal.
The top 3 in the world ranking now looks as follows: Frank Lampard, Lionel Messi, and Xavi.
