Atlético Madrid’s Uruguayan Diego Forlán (pictured), who topped the FTBL world ranking for most of the last summer, is slowly returning to form after two painful months in the football wilderness: in the last two weeks, he has managed to fight his way back into the top chart of the Spanish La Liga and has the potential to rise even higher.
Forlán’s overall FTBL rating peaked at 333 points last summer, when he sat at the top of our most prestigious world ranking of strikers. But by the end of August, as Atlético began to show signs of overheating, the Uruguay international stopped scoring goals and dropped more than 110 rating points in just two weeks. He was able to begin redressing the bar just recently and has returned in the top 6 of our ranking of strikers in La Liga.
Last Saturday Forlán scored against Mallorca only to see victory slip away as the visitors came back in the dying minutes to level the game (1:1). He earned just 14.9 rating points.
Forlán has an overall FTBL rating of 163.76 points at the moment, and to continue rising in the ranking he will have to continue scoring: he will face planks of 13 and 27 rating points to beat in the next 2 games.
