The top of the FTBL ranking of Spanish forwards underwent some changes after weekend matches in major European leagues.
While Valencia’s prolific striker David Villa remains in 1st place with a tally of 189.03 points after scoring his eight goal of the season in his side’s 3:1 win over Real Zaragoza in La Liga yesterday, teammate Mata (pictured), until yesterday in 3rd place in the ranking, has now claimed the #2 spot with a tally of 142.52 points from Liverpool’s Fernando Torres (140.55 points).
Mata scored one of the goals for Valencia to earn 18.5 rating points in the FTBL system, while Villa added just 8 rating points.
Torres, who will be in action tonight as Liverpool take on lowly Birmingham City in Premier League action, will most probably return his lost 2nd spot: his plank to beat in the game will amount to just 1 rating point, which means he can advance even without scoring a goal tonight.
