Banfield’s Cristian Lucchetti sits at the top of the FTBL ranking of Argentine goalkeepers with a tally of 76.62 points, double the score of national squad keeper Sergio Romero (39.05 points), who plays for AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch league; Romero has conceded 13 goals in his last 6 games, which of course has not gone unnoticed.
Lucchetti, meanwhile, has conceded least of all in the Argentine league, while his modest Banfield are #1 in the standings and contemplating the dream of a first-ever league title.
Banfield will take on No 2 Vélez Sársfield Saturday, with Lucchetti facing the prospect of losing rating points. Yet Banfield’s next opponents will be less fearsome, and we believe Lucchetti has a good chance of retaining the leadership up to the end of the season. But that will happen only he and his partners are able to remain in their current form.
