Tottenham Hotspur's England international Jermain Defoe (pictured) had a fantastic night yesterday as he scored 5 goals in a 9:1 demolition of a woeful Wigan Athletic in the Premier League, setting a season record for the amount of points earned in a single match in the FTBL system.
Defoe earned more than 70 rating points in our system, boosting his overall FTBL score to 159.33 points and becoming only the third player in the history of the English Premier League to score 5 goals in a single game, with Alan Shearer and Andy Cole. Defoe scored his 5 goals in a single half, while neither Shearer nor Cole did.
Defoe is now # 1 in the FTBL ranking of British strikers. He has pushed down Manchester United’s England international Wayne Rooney (147.82 points).
