Besiktas’s Rüstü Reçber (pictured) took the No 1 spot in the FTBL ranking of Turkish goalkeepers after an impressive performance last Wednesday as the Turks shocked Manchester United at Old Trafford in their Champions League group stage match (1:0).
The former Fenerbahçe and Turkey goalie was so inspired he denied an admittedly scaled-down Man United side the chance of even a draw with unbelievable saves. Reçber was particularly impressive in the dying minutes of the game, as United launched their last assault to try and save a point.
Reçber earned 9.14 rating points in the FTBL system to boost his score to 54.5 points. Manchester United now no longer have the luxury of approaching the last group stage game against CSKA Moscow as a mere formality.
