Will Totti Hold on to Top Spot in Serie A?

Despite failing to score in the Serie A game against Atalanta last weekend and dropping 13.5 rating points in our system, AS Roma star Francesco Totti nonetheless held on to the top spot in the FTBL ranking of forwards in the Italian top league.

Yet that lead remains extremely shaky, with Inter Milan’s Cameroon star Samuel Eto’o breathing down his neck. The players will face diametrically opposite tasks in the coming days: Totti will have to “defend” approximately 100 rating points in 4 games, while Eto’o faces a combined plank of just 40 rating points in as many games.

Totti will need to clear a plank of 20.55 points in tomorrow’s Europa League game against Swiss side FC Basel. Even a win and a goal might not be enough here. But if Totti passes this particular test, he will increase his chances of retaining the leadership going into the weekend as Inter Milan travel to Turin to play Juventus, a difficult game in which Eto’o will face a plank of 15.33 rating points to beat.
