Former England international Michael Owen yesterday scored all the goals in Manchester United’s 3:1 win over German champions Wolfsburg in the Champions League’s group stage to reach the top 6 of the FTBL ranking of British strikers
The hat-trick yielded the former Liverpool star approximately 25 rating points in our system, and he captured the 6th spot in the ranking with an overall score of 88.17 points.
Owen should be able to sustain the momentum going forward, with a plank of less than half a rating point to beat in his next game. True, he will face a higher plank of 17 rating points in the following game, but the plank falls again to just 0.22 and 1.86 points in the 3rd and 4th games, respectively. This means Owen is certain to add to his score even if he fails to score in those games. The size of his gains will depend only on how many of those games the Red Devils end up winning. The 100-point mark, which has eluded Owen for approximately a year now, appears now within reach.
