South America: Forlan Sets Sight on Pizarro

Werder Bremen’s Peru international Claudio Pizarro continues to top the FTBL ranking of South American forwards despite having played not a single game in a month and a half. Can he continue to remain at the top?

The No. 2 in the ranking, Atlético Madrid’s Uruguay international Diego Forlán, had in the meantime improved his position and even briefly moved ahead of the Peruvian, but the 0:3 loss to FC Porto in the Champions League once again set him back considerably.

Forlán now trails again by 9.2 points, but his combined plank to beat in his next 2 games is just 15.8 rating points. Next Sunday Atlético will take on Villarrreal, whom they defeated 3:2 in their last game. The Uruguayan earned 18.95 rating points in that game, and if he can repeat that performance, he will once surge to the top of the ranking if Pizarro remains sidelined.
