Benfica’s Paraguayan forward Óscar Cardozo is ending this year as the highest rated player in Portugal’s top league with a score of 109.47 points, more than 10 points ahead of his nearest rival.
Cardozo’s score peaked at 130 points in late October when Benfica made short work of first Everton (5:0) in the Europa League and then C.D. Nacional in the national league (6:1) in the space of just 4 days. He earned 55 rating points in the FTBL system in those two games alone.
In his first 2 games next year Cardozo will have to “defend” more than 40 points in the FTBL system as Benfica take to the road. The leadership might therefore revert to Sporting C.P.’s Liédson, who will have a combined plank of just 8.84 points to beat in his first 2 games of the year.
