Wolfsburg’s Bosnian international Edin Dzeko, who topped the FTBL ranking of East European strikers for a long stretch, has been toppled in the last months of the year by Bayern Munich’s Croatian Ivica Olic.
Olic’s sole goal against Haifa Maccabi on November 25 in the Champions League might have saved coach Louis van Gaal’s job, and it certainly marked the beginning of a reversal in the Bavarians’ fortunes after a disastrous beginning to the season: they won the folowing 5 games, scoring 19 goals, while Olic added a whopping 90 points to his FTBL score in the process (187.38 points).
Dzeko trails by less than 10 rating points, though, and competition for the top spot in this category should revive after the holidays. The Bosnian will face a combined plank 40 rating points lower than his rival’s in his next 5 games
