Liverpool kept their chances for a top-four finish in the Premier League alive yesterday with a 2:0 win over No. 15 Bolton Wanderers at Anfield Road. Skipper Steven Gerrard, whose FTBL score has suffered because of the Reds’ poor showing so far this season, redressed the bar somewhat; he picked up enough points to return in the top 8 of our world ranking of midfielders after a 2-month absence.
Gerrard now has an overall FTBL score of 141.21 points. He was helped by a low plank in the game.
The England international will go into his next game with a guaranteed bonus of 3 points as compensation for the 0:2 loss to Portsmouth. That suggests he should be able to climb further up the ranking.
