Young talents not getting much exposure at Bayern

Lukas Podolsk (pictured, left)i, who until recently saw his career evolve with determination, has now apparently been relegated to the bench for good at Bayern Munich. The last time the 24-year old was on the pitch was on November 5 during the Champions League game against Fiorentina.

The Italian Luca Toni and German international Miroslav Klose are the two main forwards at Bayern, which leaves Podolski with very little playtime in coach Klinsman’s team. Podolski has a respectable rating of 101.23 he improved mostly during the Euro 2008.

Podolski was included in the German squad of the Euro-2004 in Portugal. He was then the youngest player in the German side. He came in as a substitute in the game against the Czech, his only performance at the championship. Two years later at the World Cup in Germany, Podolski performed remarkably, scoring three goals. He also scored three goals at the Euro-2008.

Another Bavarian talent, 19 year old Tony Kroos, the captain of the German under-20 team, is not often seen on the pitch either. His last game was against Energie Cottbus, where he came in as a substitute for Bastian Schweinsteiger, on November 22. He has since been benched. Kroos’s rating is therefore not very high at 30.10 points, while Schweinsteiger’s stands at 90.48. Schweinsteiger is the best German midfielder in the national rating. The best forward, Klose, currently has a rating of 159.21 points.
