Andrei Voronin was all talent once again in Hertha’s latest game in the Bundesliga. The Ukrainian international scored a hat trick, earning his side a 3-1 victory over Energie Cottbus and allowing them to retain control of a crowded top spot in the Bundesliga.
“Voronin has built up a fantastic form!” Hertha captain Arne Friedrich said, adding, “I’ll say even more: at the moment he is irreplaceable in our club.”
Voronin’s rating shot up by 29.18 points at the conclusion of the game, earning him a place on the list of best players of the Bundesliga with 152.54 points. Voronin has scored 7 goals for Hertha in the last five games.
But the game was no catwalk for the Berliners, especially in the 22nd minute when a powerful kick by Energie’s Cagdas Atan took Hertha goalie Jaroslav Drobny by surprise.
The goal seemed to shake Hertha’s attack out of its slumbers, and a cross by Ebert allowed Voronin to level the game at the 34th. Voronin scored the second goal in the dying minutes of the first half after a well taken free kick.
The second half was less spectacular, but Voronin still had something left to say when, after a counterattack, he took the ball through the middle, ignored two defenders and scored his third of the game.
